OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington Gov. Jay Inlsee has requested the federal authorities for help staffing hospitals and long-term care amenities in response to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
“In Washington State, our hospitals are presently at or past capability, and we want extra help at the moment,” Inslee wrote in Friday’s letter — launched publicly Monday — to Jeffrey Zients, the White Home COVID-19 coordinator.
Inslee wrote that the state Division of Well being has requested 1,200 scientific and non-clinical employees, and that he was requesting deployment of Division of Protection medical personnel “to help with the present hospital disaster.”
Inslee spokesman Mike Faulk mentioned the state had not but acquired a response.
