LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was extradited from New York to California on Tuesday to face trial on rape and assault prices, his spokesman and the New York Division of Corrections stated.
Weinstein was convicted in New York in February 2020 for sexual assault and rape and was sentenced to 23 years in jail.
In Los Angeles, he’s needed for trial on prices of attacking 5 girls from 2004 to 2013.
The Los Angeles prices embody forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual battery by restraint, and sexual penetration by use of power. If convicted, Weinstein may spend the remainder of his life in jail.
“This morning at roughly 9:25 custody of Mr. Harvey Weinstein was handed over to the suitable officers for transport to the state of California per a courtroom order,” the New York Division of Corrections stated in an announcement.
