WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Microsoft Corp has received U.S. antitrust approval for its deal to purchase synthetic intelligence and speech know-how firm Nuance Communications Inc, in response to a submitting made by Nuance to the federal government.
The $16 billion deal, which was introduced in April, got here after the businesses partnered in 2019 to automate healthcare administrative work, equivalent to documentation.
Nuance stated in a submitting to the U.S. Securities and Change Fee on Friday that the deadline for the U.S. authorities to object to the deal had expired on June 1.
That expiration “satisfies one of many situations to the closing of the merger,” the corporate stated within the submitting.
A spokesperson for Microsoft stated in an announcement that the deal was present process regulatory evaluations in different jurisdictions and was supposed to shut on the finish of 2021.
